Are the ESS ICE 2.4 glasses acceptable eye protection at DV?

Smashing. Just ordered a pair off UKTactical for £34. I'll be there on the 19th. Did you get my email about my cancelled booking?

Right, I've received my glasses. Only problems:

1. The black lense do not have the little ICE acronym on the left hand side (like I've seen in DV pictures)

2. None of the documentation supplied says "ICE 2.4".

3. The documentation says "do not use for airsoft".

I may have made a boo-boo...  :(

Well, this review suggests that they'd stop and charging elephant:

Are you sure they are genuine?

I think they are genuine. They came with all sorts of documentation and even a giant sticker of the ESS logo. I'm just not sure if they're the "2.4" model. They may be a model with lower impact rating thingy, or something.

http://www.uktactical.com/acatalog/ESS_ICE_2.4.html

Although ESS say that all their products  "have very high impact resistance, well beyond the ANSI Z87.1 requirements, and above the level of the US Military spec: MIL STD 662F".

Well, UKTactical replied that they are, so I guess no problem. I know a few chaps who wear these glasses, but theirs have the little ICE acronym on the lefthand side of the lense, which buggered me up a little bit. When I come on the 19th, we'll have to test them. That'll be £35 down the drain... but you can't put a price on being able to see.
How would we go about testing them? Kalon firing at them from 3 inches away in the safe zone or something?

Can industrial goggles/glasses be used at DV? I was thinking of going to B&Q for some. I was gonna order some glasses from an airsoft site but i need them for sunday.

Thanks

Nope, while the glasses you can get at BnQ have some resistance they aren't in the same league as proper shooting glasses.

If your stuck come sunday we do offer face masks at no cost.

Yep. They're mesh masks and they're wuvable. And they don't fog up. Naturally.
The only drawback is if your wearing a PASGT helmet, the helmet will push the mask down, or the mask will push the helmet up. But that's a tiny insignificant annoyance that'll only affect silly people like me who decide to wear old school helmets.

in reference, i have 2 pairs of these, issued at different dates, one has the ICE logo in the middle of the lens, the other has no markings on the lens.
