Game Themes
« on: July 01, 2009, 03:31:47 pm »
Just out of curiosity, is it up to Olly (Firkit) to come up with the theme and script for the day?

Or can his mind be persuaded, manipulated and influenced by others who may have a good idea for a theme?

Not that I have an idea but just thought it could be good to open up a topic to see if anyone has ideas about these things.

Thanks

It's usually me, Jeff or Russ that writes the campaign games. We are always open to suggestions, or even 'guest' events though.

:D Awesome

Just for people reading this and my own curiosity  If one were to want to write a campaign/theme, how would it be written? i.e. A scenario for each game on the day? how many scenario’s throughout the day.

Thanks

Usually there are 5 campaign games based on the day's theme, about 25-30 minutes each. The first one is played before lunch with the rest in the afternoon. The idea is that the outcome of each on influences the next one, so if team A win the first game then will have a harder objective in game 2 and so on.

Could we possibly have a few more limited regen games?
I find them more fun as you can pull off some normally stupid/suicidal things for a laugh.

We have tended to do more regen games in the summer over the last couple of years, opinion is always rather divided on whether they are good or bad. They tend to be 'domination' type games based on capturing and holding flags at defined times within the game.

i liked the idea of the two base games at the start being regen, i feel it can help some of the newbs get some kills, and just get used to being shot at

Yeah, I like those too. We've tended to take them out on the really hot days as they do get people a bit 'excited' and the play can get a bit OTT. They will return.

I also agree, it does help the newbies get into the game much better.

Case in point was my other half, she got about 3 shots off in the first 3 games so was abit miserable with the game thus far.
Thankfully got her more involved later in the day so she enjoyed it in the end.

Also enjoyed the one regen game we had a couple of game days back, where we had "armoured suits" and used gold bars to count our regen.
Good fun.

Game Theme, I am sat here at work day dreaming waiting for the clock to tick around to 5.30pm when I thought....

why not have a swine flu based game.....It would be a (BBC's) Survivor's (TV Show) mash up with an outbreak of severe swine flu, 2 groups of survivors find out about a possible antivirus in a lab that has been deserted but there will only be enough for one groups and so the race/fight for this antivirus begins!

just an idea, kind of zombie like game without the zombies

Cod theme?
So we try to attack a position whilst waves apon waves of respawning enemies come at us until we dicide to move 2 meters forward in order to stop them respawning?

Hehe, not sure how serious you are, but that would probably work quite well.

How about we act out the COD5 "Nacht Der Untoten" level, where 4 people hole up in the Cave (see what I did there?) while the rest off us try to get in using our bare fists?

We could even hang AEG's off the walls and the players have to "pay" to "unlock" them.

Oh, and explosive barrels as well. We need some of them.

And we'll need someone who can detach their legs and crawl around, as does always happens at the end of round where you blow the legs off the last Nazi zombie, and then leave it to crawl slowly after you while you repair the barricades.
