RATM for XMas #1
« on: December 06, 2009, 01:53:33 pm »
I know a few of you have joined this group already but for those who haven't, it's a campaign to get "Killing in the name of.." by Rage Against the Machine to the Xmas number 1 spot by organising a mass buy in the week leading up to Xmas, in order to prevent Cowell and his latest karaoke act from winning it for the fifth year running.  For the sake of 99p, it's worth it!

well if enough people buy it it will still get high up the charts, which will be amusing enough given all the shite that's in there these days.

You do realise that te BBC will refuse to recognise it? As they did the first time it was released.
They've done the same with few other songs over the years, such as "relax" by frankie goes to hollywood, and "god save the queen" by the sex pistols, (twice)
the french have suggested that they arm the Libyan rebels
I can see it now....
Libyan Rebel: "how does it work?"
French soldier: "hey nonny nonnied, firmly if I know, we just drop it and run away"

the BBC disavow it all they want, the fact of the matter is, if it reaches number 1 by sales figures, its done its bit. besides. its an epic song, and as such, real fans of rock music will buy it. try to hold cowell back as much as possible. even if it only reaches number 1 in 1 country, its still recognition. whens it on sale?

Baby Buster, you're missing my point. When the sex pistols had the highest sales for the week with God Save The Queen, the BBC refused to recognise it as a number one single, and fixed the chart. The BBC deemed the song "unacceptable".

There's nothing stopping them "fixing" the charts again, seeing as Simon Cowell buys the christmas number one every year nowadays.

Although, I have to concede that Stacey whoever-she-was has better legs than the RATM Krew. Much better...  :giggedy:

Online sales show RATM as no. 2 and Joe Xfailure as no. 1...I'll go buy it on saturday to contribute my bit.  Anything to wipe the smug grin off Simon's face (even though I don't think he's that bad a person, and a pretty good critic of pop(ular) music, I can't resist the temptation).
