Booking At Dragon Valley
« on: March 25, 2010, 01:56:47 pm »
Last game day we were fully booked and had 7 people wanting rentals and places in the waiting list.
Come game day and we are missing 28 people who just didnt show up without even a email or a call.
We understand RL comes first and sometimes it just happens but let us know as we can give out your space.

A little know fact is if you do this twice in a year then the booking system will not allow you to book a space and you will have to email us to book then  Myself or Olly can decide wether to give one to you.

please let us know if u have to cancel

And if you are a DV Member and do it twice we suspend your membership, which also suspends your UKARA listing.

Just out of curiosity, is there a deadline to call or email you to cancel?

As soon as you know you can't make it. If that's the Sunday morning when you can't get your car to start that's fine, we often have people on the waiting list who ask to be phoned even if we get a place come up at that short notice.

Wow only twice? Bit harsh.

Yet seeing as 28 (!) people didnt turn up last game I can see why.

Don't think it's harsh at all. If you book a place, and deny another paying player, not only do you spoil some ones elses day but also llose revenue for DV that goes into improving the site. It's only common curtesy to inform Ollie or Jeff that you can't make it. Yet another MF's day on Mothering Sunday.

Wow only twice? Bit harsh.

That would have to be twice without letting us know. There is no problem with cancelling even at the last minute, but it really ticks us off when people just don't bother to turn up. Even more so when, like last time, we have players who have to miss out because others can't be arsed to take a minute to email/phone/text/PM us.

what if youve booked for someone and they dont show but dont inform the person booking either is that then the bookers fault or the person he has booked for

Well it's only fair really. Just look at the waiting list already. For everyone who doesn't notify the DV staff, there is going to be a slot in which somebody could of joined in. More players equals more fun so why should anyone be turned down because somebody couldn't be bothered to notify anyone? It should be common courtesy

everyone gets the spots like 2 weeks ahead and then goes out during the weekend..and forgets or is too drunk to wake up, also since last there was one game this month it was like everyone had to play!

Which is why over 28%  of people decided not to come, call, text, email or even email why afterwards.
I think if you  turned up at 9am and the gates didnt open you might be a little peeved as Olly or i got drunk or forgot to come.

When you book your making a promise to come as we plan everthing around those numbers and in return we make sure we have the site booked, games written, ammo and supplys in stock, marshals to admin the games and other players for your to shoot.
If this simple concept of calling us even like 20 mins before the gate opens so we know your not coming and we dont have to leave a marshall on the gate, plz feel free to not turn up to another site

Sorry to hear that, hope he's doing okay.

Obviously there are times when real-life does get in the way of cocking about in a field with toy guns. For those with less valid reasons for not turning up, like a hangover or not wanting to play in the rain I have rather less sympathy.

not wanting to play in the rain.

Although i dont mind the rain, surely it would be common sense to check the forcast?

No, but if people would like to wimp out the day before then we could pass the places on to others rather than having them miss out.

the 5 day forcast is usually as far into the future that can be predicted, but thats enough time for someone to drop in and someone else to sign in.

with the DV micro climate you can never be sure anyway! can say rain and we get sun, and and vice versa!
if your worried about getting your new or expensive combats or gear wet and dirty maybe a new hobby is needed!
as for playing with hangover i find its the best cure! people need to just man up and get on with it!
i have had to drop out at last minute before and could only email but as long as you let Jeff or Ol know then there fine with it! thats what waiting lists are for! :bravo:

Just an observation but has the games gone to ever 4 weeks now rather than every 2 or is this 4 week just temporary? Im asuming the mod only cleared certain dates and they happen to be 4 weeks apart?

Sorry chaps, a mate of mine has booked 8 people but not got a confirmation email. And come to think of it, I've booked as well but not got an email either... could you check if Matt North and James Doody are booked, please?
