Reliable site
« on: October 01, 2006, 05:51:21 pm »
hi, im new 2 airsift, but im not just sum common tube noob whos asking stupid questions with out doing any reading 2 c if their answer is already out there..

Anyway, i want to buy my first AEG and i found the following website

http://www.geniestuff.co.uk/htdocs/part-metal-heavyweight-m4a1e.htm

That seems almost too gd 2 b tru i thought,as im not looking to start of with a gun costing more than ?100, which i know is very limiting.

But is that site reliable? does any1 know if it has a gd/bad repututaion? and also is there something about the gun that i have overlook/not understood which actualy makes it ovbious y it is so cheap?

the other thing is i couldnt seem 2 find the brand ofthe gun....which is a bit worring as if it was good surly the site would be boasting about it....

Thanks, looking 4ward 2 reading ur words of wisdom :)

looks aload of common tat.
To Be honest, i Would Get A Glock 18c, with some mags and a battery for just over 100 quid. http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/product.asp?page=product&id=41SMGG18CHWKSC

Well it all looks like a load off pants. Reading some of the guns descriptions they refer to them as airsoft guns, not bb guns. How dare them! That company is no where near elitist enough to be allowed to use the word airsoft!

So Soz Dude, I Wouldnt Buy There,

:( o wel, thans alot, im relieved realy, my friend rushed in and has allready orderd from that site with our realy researching...

i have 1 more query however

http://www.gizmos-uk.com/BE%20Steyr%20AUG.html?PHPSESSID=6a5af28e886e55ffb749e8d5ad246a56

That is another 'cheap' AEG, but is again is there something im over looking?

The only things i can see wring with it is the low fpw (190) and i read on another forum that that website can be unreliable....but im willing to take that risk for an AUG of taht price!!

What do u think? :)

PRO'S

Affordable (usually around $80-$100)
Tokyo Marui compatible (mags, barrels, upgrades, etc.)
Decent accuracy
Very good ROF (about 17-18 RPS on full charged stock battery)
Shoots faster than Tokyo Marui counterpart (mine does 330-350 FPS)
Very comfortable to shoulder (Rubber butt plate)
Upgradeable (has metal V3 Gearbox)
Effective range is more than 120 ft. (130 ft. is pushing it)
Hi-cap magazine feeds flawlessly and is reliable
Field strips just like the real steel AUG
Decent stock battery (9.6 volt 1200 mAh Ni-mh)

CON'S

Too much plastic
Somewhat back-heavy
Only external metal parts are the sling mounts
Foregrip not very durable/sturdy
Fake scope doesn't even have crosshairs
Many visible screw holes (most of them are on the right side of the gun)
No trademarks (hey, it was made in China, what did you expect?)
A little too shiny for my tastes (Krylon or similar flat spray paint fixes this)
Plastic quality isn't the best, but it is not the worst, either
Visible seam lines

Personally I'd take that review with a pinch of salt.  There's been a sudden influx into the market lately of cheap chinese knockoffs of the better known manufacturers models.  Don't get me wrong, some of them aren't bad at all, and are quite good value, but a lot of them have little to no quality control and can sometimes break almost instantly.

With the above in mind though, buying from a UK store is definitely a good move for a first gun, since if it goes tits-up you've got a retailer's warranty to fall back on, and they'd have to replace/refund you if it falls to pieces.

Personally I'd say save your cash a little bit longer and buy a Tokyo Marui AEG.  It's more expensive but it's almost guaranteed to work, and provided you don't thrash it, it should keep working for years to come.

Looks a bag of spoons to me. Maybe you should be looking at a second hand AEG? Some bargains to be had that way.

SUTA have the right idea. They have t-shirts that say" SUTA - I spent my student loan on guns".

How much did that AK47 we use as an extra rental gun cost? That was quite a good bargain as I recollect, and seems reliable.
