help again (sorry)
« on: September 21, 2011, 02:07:57 am »
basicly i used my rpk for the 1st time last weekend and finally got it chrono`d but it was only putting out 195 to 200 fps, but the range was pretty damn good and out rangeing a few other aegs on the day,
i have put a brand new factory built src gear box in there so i know it should be putting out alot more,
the hop is brand new and barely needed moveing on much
what else can it be where am i looseing power too?

if not you may have suckback

I think that's what happened to my Sig- I put a long barrel conversion kit on it and lost about 100 fps. Thanks Russ (and Stonemanator) you've answered a question for me too!

That's a new full cylinder.

If your gearbox was from a gun with a shorter barrel, then the cylinder will have a hole in it so the volume of air in the cylinder matches up with that needed to fill the barrel. If you then fit a longer barrel, then there isn't enough air in the cylinder to fill the barrel so you end up with a vortex which sucks the bb back towards the gearbox and reduces power.

By fitting a larger cylinder you will ensure that the barrel is filled with air and the suckback effect is removed.

if the gearbox already has a cylinder without a hole in it, then it's not this.

Zero one cocked up an order on my RIF last month, I'm hesitant to use them. Even for thier .25 BBs that I've been buying for ages.

I have hardly bought off Z1 since i bought my second G36 off them a few years back. Asked for it to be upgraded so new spring and metal bushing according to there upgrade list. when i got the gun there was the old TM spring in a systema spring packet, and a set of nylon bushings in another systema packet, when i had to open the gun a year later as i had stripped a gear i found a standard spring and nylon bushes in it.

I have had the complete opposite from zero one. I had my Mp5 from them, and various orders since without any problems. I guess i've just been lucky.

The retailers I've not had a problem with are Fire-Support and Wolf Armouries. Wolf did free delivery on my TM 36k recoil when I had it, and FS, even though they cocked up my order on a 5-7 mag just before GZW and sent me a Deagle mag, they sent it out on next day delivery and paid for it too.

Other shops I reccomend are Novatcombat and airsoft world. I try to avoid Z1 after word got around that their 'experts' told someone to clean their inner barrel with wire wool...

I cant fault fire support, a few orders have been a little slow but i put that down to a busy time of the year. Wolf I have only used once, they charged me £5 to post a 20p screw for my hi-capa cylinder and when i got it they had sellotaped it to a piece of card and stuck in an envelope and the postal mark was like 36p at the time.
