Aww not again!

"Reliable" is exactly what they aren't!  Okay, you might buy one that lasts for ages and is as good as a TM, although you're much more likely to get one that is a bag of bollocks and will be absolutely useless.

Don't listen to him. Do your homework, find out what clones are good performers out of the box first. Then find out whether they are of a good quality material. Then choose which one looks the best. Then fork out a load for internal upgrades and you'll be sorted.

It's all well and good going on about "good performers out of the box", but what you don't realise is that the quality control and consistency on these Chinese knockoffs is virtually non existant.  You may be lucky and get one that works nicely and lasts ages, but seriously - don't count on it.  Also, you shouldn't have to whack a load of internal upgrades into a gun just to get it up to skirmishable standard.   The whole idea of "out of the box" is exactly what it says on the tin, not "out of the box and into the workshop".

Firkit is right, you can get a used but well looked after TM gun in this country for very little.

I probably worded that wrong didn't I. By internal stuff I meant bushings shims and maybe a hop rubber.

well i did some research into chinese clones and found a very good thread on a forum

http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=10854.0

this has a list of a lot of chinese knock off kit and they tell u the minimum u need to do to make it run as well as the high quality guns like TM

oo and i bought the AIM m4 all that needed was a decent hop unit thats also reviewed on the site and they say its a very good cheap gun and after almost a year of using it its still alive

C-X, the cyma AK74 i rate higher than the CA version i had..... unreliable? not on your nelly!! These are better than TM. Can't wait to get some more :D

the one's that really shine are CYMA, JING GONG and DBOYS. The Dboys M4S-System 7mm gearbox with 330 out of th box and can run a 12v battery! Try doing that on the TM version.......

I've used every brand there is, and i put those 3 up there with TM, ask Dude about his M16, 330 out the box with a 6.03mm barrel fitted as standard. Now there is someone who is a stickler for quality and the JG M16 blew him away.

I'll do a full on review of the CYMA later in the week.

oh and by the way I'M BACK AT DV ON THE 25TH!!!!

Funnily enough I saw one of those MP40's last week and was quite impressed.  Also, there's an XM8 (made by SRC) on one of the HK websites that I'm tempted by.  I may be forced to eat my words..

Well I have an AGM m14 to try out this weekend same brand as that mp40 so lets see how long it lasts, but since I own the thing it's gonna go tits up anyway as things have a habbit of breaking around me lol.
