Airsoft Violence?
« on: March 10, 2015, 06:18:30 pm »
I am a complete newbie to airsoft and was really taken by the game when I attended a DV event last month for my friends birthday. However, my Mum and Dad (I am 14) are not keen on me coming more regularly because they are under the (false) impression that airsoft is a 'violent' sport, and that the people who go there are the sort of people who go out and shoot people, or who are simply not very nice. I, having been to the site, and having witnessed the amazing community spirit and general friendliness of everyone there, marshals and players alike, have been arguing otherwise, but they are still not convinced...

Has anyone got any advice for me, or (friendly) messages for them to change their perspective?

Thank you all for the amazing experience you gave me on the 8th of Feb, I hope to see you all again soon! :D

you can always ask them to come spectate ?
be total honest with them there is some fruity language and they may get hit (by mistake )
but they will see the side we are all proud of :- like minded ppl having fun
also they can chat to almost every one there and get pretty much the same repose about the sport
''dont do it !! it cost too much and you'll never have enough gun's or kit'' :laughsoutloud: :laughsoutloud: :laughsoutloud:
life goes around like a wheel sometimes your up and sometimes down but remember your always moving

On a serious note, they think that you are all violent and nasty (a huge stereotype i know), and they are very anti-gun, so the idea of me running around a field with a RIF shooting people is not one that they are too keen on...

I wasn't aware of any stereotype of airsofters being violent and nasty. The usual one is that we're a bunch of effeminate nerds with a fetish for toy guns.

So yeah, they should come and spectate for a day and see the truth.

Ask them to phone me, the number is on the website, I have had this conversation many times and may be able to help with their concerns.
