General Discussion / Re: New Player to Airsoft
« on: May 14, 2018, 12:21:30 pm »
Hi,

As you've probably gathered these forums are a bit quiet these days, people don't really seem to use forums anymore in these days of Facebook/Twitter/Insta etc.

Welcome aboard, see you at a game soon!

If it has a bright blue stock then I'm assuming it is a two-tone, an imitation rather than a realistic imitation in respect of the law. Changing parts to make it more realistic would classify as the manufacture of a realistic imitation firearm, which is not a great idea. We can't advise on that, and would recommend that you steer clear of making any changes that might expose you to risk of prosecution.

Welcome aboard!

Standard new player advice is to buy nothing (except maybe boots) before you first play. Avoids a whole lot of buying lemons if you come along and talk to regulars to find out what's parting with money for.

Welcome aboard.

4th March event is bookable now on the website.

If you must buy anything before your first even make it boots. I'd always advise buying nothing else at all until you have talked to a few people and got some objective feedback on what's worth having and what's really not. Also, until you have played how do you know whether you want to take it up as an ongoing hobby, or indeed what your preferred style of play is - which will be a huge influence on what kit you go for.

Worth waiting until you qualify for site membership so you can avoid two-tones also.

The Red Fire one appears to be the only spring Mosin Nagant, but I don't see anyone in the UK stocking them and I have no idea if they are any good as we've not seen one. Once you have site membership there is of course nothing to stop you importing one.

I wouldn't let that put you off at all, a fair few of our regular players and a good few of the marshals are carrying some extra weight, myself included. Running is not a requirement, everyone can play to their own preference, some people like to sprint everywhere and some are more comfortable with a tactical amble. Get booked in for this Sunday and we'll see you there.

That said, you can get good boots cheap but they might not sit well with your dislike of used kit. Surplus shops are your friend. If you do go for new boots they are of course useful for all sorts, not just airsoft. I live in mine.

General Discussion / Re: What is the best camo for DV?
« on: August 13, 2017, 02:36:22 am »
It really depends where on the site you are. If you are fighting around buildings then the ideal camo would be different to when you are sneaking around in the ferns..

As a curveball, I've found Alpenflage to be really good in the autumn, matches the colours found on-site at that time of year  well.

On points it ended up a draw, 10 points each. In theme terms, NATO won as they stole and detonated the nuke inside North Korea.

Few new faces on the marshal rota, and we have rather more flexible boundaries, otherwise much as always.

I went looking for twisties and took the scenic route up from Ross through Ledbury, Malvern, Worcester etc. More interesting than sitting on the M5

Link was busted Chris, had a stray '.' on the end, edited to fix the link.

I've linked these from the Dates page on the website and shared them on the DV Facebook page.

Everyone else is so much quicker at posting their photos than me. Bryn had his online by the time I was passing Worcester on the way home!

Ah, the good old days, it was a simpler time with far more injuries... ;)

Good to hear from you Magaz, you'll have to make that 5 hour trek down over the summer, make a weekend of it.
