Riiight I've joined the Gassers :(

WE Scar L Closed Bolt (plus 4 mags)

Now what's the best Closed bolt kit, closed bolt mag lips and NPAS to get as I've been advised she's a "little" hot...

Please welcome Francine :)

You want the open bolt kit. You already have the closed bolt bits. (going by the size of those feedlips)
There is no 'best' as there is only one of each.

In my quest for the perfect head protection I've come up with this bad boy

Stark 2 from Brassguard :)

It's very well made and comes from Russia.
It's a bit heavy as it solid steel. I may very well give this a go on Sunday.

Only draw back I see is shouldering the rifle and looking down sight. The cheek bone tends to get in the way, so I need to sculpt the face out a little on my right cheek

Absolutely incredible dude, the bareknuckles paired with the wood combo and the tonecaps are an absolute match made in heaven, the variation of sounds the coilsplitter gives across 3 pickup settings is awesome as well and seen as I'm playing through my ENGL Invader 100/Zilla custom fatboy cab and pedal layout makes it even better, and my rig is all cabled up with mogami gold/platinum cables.

I don't think Dylan has made a bass before, but he can as he was taught to on his apprenticeship, his teacher definitely makes basses though his name is Tom Waghorn of Waghorn guitars both Dylan and Tom are based in Bristol.

Here's Dylan's website http://www.daemonessguitars.co.uk/news.php (http://www.daemonessguitars.co.uk/news.php)

And the facebook: http://www.facebook.com/daemonessguitars (http://www.facebook.com/daemonessguitars)

And Tom's: www.Waghornguitars.com (http://www.Waghornguitars.com)

As I've said before, that guitar does make me rather jealous, even though I'm a drummer myself  :P Hopefully I should be looking at a nice new custom brass snare drum to be made for Christmas time, a much needed upgrade.

I bought this from Airsoftopia (Cougar's shop) yesterday and used it all day, and I'm pleased to say it didn't disappoint.

The gun shoots straight, accurate and fast (as i also had a lipo fitted) and was chronoing at around 320fps.

Construction is solid, the stock is stiff to move at first, but had no wobble when in play. Wooden grips are also solid with play in them. Colouration of the wooden is nice and dark, unlike some of the brighter plastic grips on the market. A plus for me, is that paint wears away easily in the moving parts, like on the fire selector, giving a more authentic look.

A handy feature is that the top cover is hinged, allowing for quicker battery changes, and leaves out any fiddling to replace the cover in a hurry.

Only gripes, if any are that the back sight is ever so slightly misaligned, but didnt impact play in any significant way. And, more humorously the back sling mount makes the stock sound like a cowbell if it hits it right :P (but tape easily sorted that)

Overall, this gun is well worth it, and i would recommend it in a heartbeat, especially for the price.

Just a warning, bungee cord on open top mag pouches are quite flimsy from experience. Dont rag them about as they will snap on their own accord sending your mags flying all over the place.

:bravo:  Greg as Jo and Lenny (bulles owners) are friends of mine, im a little upset about how you quoted simba link with the pic Clearly in view and 3 posts by me about getting in touch with Flecktarn, only  now you say that your mag pouchs are HK crap and NOT BULLE, hows about you alter your posts to state this as it looks like your rubbishing their product.

Classic moment, and one that will forever embarrass me. Lenny is indeed a true gentleman in his dealing over the affair.

(for those wondering what we're talking about, after a particularly superb 48 hour non stop weekender at Sopley  an old CQB site, a very tired Pigpie reversed into Flecktarn's car, causing some damage to the wing I seem to remember. Lenny calmly saw the damage, and as Jeff said, uttered the timeless phrase 'Mein Gott, you have slain mien auto' in his wonderful Germanic voice. )

I believe some of the EI workers left in order to make First Spear so now you are getting EI quality at a fraction of the price. Withard has FS pouches on his EI vest. They are fantastic, but I shall stick with flyye for budget reasons.

Its a USAF Para Rescue(Airborne special forces medic) loadout go figure, thats what the C-A-Ts (combat application tourniquets) are for as well
the scissors is a bandage shears and the multicam pouch is an ATS tactical medical pouch, and the tape if for jerry rigging stuff in the field

Anyway, hoping to get a T1 Aimpoint soon along with a UBR stock once I shift some stuff for sale.

The foam is excellent yea, it feels almost rubbery in texture not like the "dish washing sponge" texture,

its like the foam you'd find on the inside of a motorcycle helmet(under the fabric in most cases) and its firmly resined in place,

this particular model also has an adjustable vent on the font to prevent fogging,

as I always suffer with fogging I find as soon as you open the vent it starts to de-mist, of course some anti fog spray wouldn't go a miss,

I'm guessing you'd be wearing them with just the stock vinyl strap which is also very comfortable,

They come in Clear, Rose Tinted(Ignitor) and Smoked

sweet, how much do you reckon that'll be?

also the paint seems pretty poor, so maybe one day when i qualify for UKARA, i could scratch it off?

Have heard you can't respray it and bring to DV, nothing about scratching off.. haha seems like alot of effort really.

Oh and a quick question, how long should I charge the battery for before a game day?

Cheers

until it's full.

Right, being a noob who has only charged the battery for about 20 mins to test the firing out etc, i have no idea how long you are supposed to charge a "NI-MH 8.4v 1600 mAh" nun-chuck style battery for.

Forexample i don't know wether charging it over night would damage the battery?

pls halp
Title: Re: Show us your latest acquisitions Mk2
Post by: iGeza on September 30, 2012, 07:16:23 pm
I assume you have one of those very basic trickle chargers (A plug with a wire that connects to the battery). Here's what you do;

1. Unplug the charger, making sure there is no battery attached to the other end.
2. Take it outside and place on the road
3. Drive over it. Repeatedly.
4. Dispose of in black bin (not the green one)
5. Get a peak charger (http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/radio_control1.html (http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/radio_control1.html))
6. Enjoy better performance/longer life out of your batteries.

Seriously though, I'm sure there's some sort of formula for working out how long you charge your batteries for based on the voltage/mAh but I don't know what it is.

Get Li-po's to unlock God mode.

Post by: Eldeeko on September 30, 2012, 07:22:39 pm
I see, that makes sense!

Google and all it's wisdom says 3 hours, so i'll give that a go on the morning of the 7th.

Will upgrade etc when i have a RIF

Title: Re: Show us your latest acquisitions Mk2
Post by: Greg on October 01, 2012, 01:00:48 am
Exactly what Geza said, those trickle chargers are pain in the arse and fruity bun-loaf up your batteries. Plus they never get the full power out of them.

Seriously dude, if you get a smart charger it will have you set for a very long time unless you are a burke and drop water on it etc. etc.

Smart chargers are the way to go, I dont even know why china brands supply those trickle chargers when 75% of people just chuck them in the bin.

And in response to your two tone issue, do not purposely remove the two tone paint, if it wears of naturally then obviously nature does not like two tones, mind what does like two tones.

But if you wish to stay with your trickle charger then around 4-5 hours would do it fine. Or a more primative way, if the battery gets hot then consider it medium to well done as some of the absurdly bad trickle chargers do not have a cutoff limit.

We have nice new fancy chargers in the safe zone now, so you could just use ours for the 7th and then get something decent yourself before the next time.

Safariland Belt Ride Glock 17 with Tac Light holster, (Price was insane they retail at 150 Dollars and I picked it up for £35)
found the gun clip didnt protect my gun enough while slamming into walls, climbing through mouse holes, jumping through windows etc,
so I'll use it as concealed carry for milsim scenarios now and the Safariland as my direct action holster.

Arc'Teryx LEAF Drac Jacket In Crocodile First line for my Cold Weather BDU.

A 2nd Impact Dynatex BFG, bringing my explosive loadout up to 2x Impacts and 1x Timed.

Not generally a fan of LMG's but that certainly looks hot balls!

Anyway, my chrono arrived and I was able to test my guilty little gamble:

A GBB Combat machine.

Really want to go full gas and this was cheap enough to merit a punt to tide me over for a few months to see if gas really is for me.

So I filled the mag up with propane and BB's and put the mag on the window sill for 40 minutes as the propane had been in the rather warm house. I then fired a bunch of shots through the chrono at roughly 10 seconds apart and got the following results:

315
305
302
298
306
306
304

This is pretty encouraging as I was afraid it would be too powerful but it would seem like it should be fine for the winter. Fingers crossed it passes DV chrono next month :D

Is that using one of those GBBR conversion kits, or is it full GBBR?

Well we shall see how it performs.

My the way, my first chronograph test was with .23g bb's. It actually fires around 335fps with .20g's
Title: Re: Show us your latest acquisitions Mk2

Why?

(Late reply I apologise)

It goes against the whole point of a GBBR which is to have realistic dimensions, field stripping, maintenance and operation.
What you really have is just an AEG with a gas powered mechbox. None of the positives yet all the negatives of a gas system.

If you really wanted to see if gas was for you it would of been far better to purchase a WE G36 or M4, both of which can be had for around £200 plus myself or Cougar can provide advice and/or support.

Title: Re: Show us your latest acquisitions Mk2
Post by: iGeza on November 16, 2012, 11:01:49 pm
Well, not the whole point as far as I'm concerned. I get a pretty sweet kick, parts that are interchangable with my AEG's and is frankly dirt cheap. Think of it like a gateway drug..... this is Acid and a WE GBBR is heroin for instance.

aha, amusing.  :)

To me that is like riding a bicycle to decide if you would like motorcycling.
Both have two wheels but are otherwise two utterly different things.

If you are happy with it though then carry on.  :)

I can't understand how one toy gun can be a crime against another toy gun... At the end of the day, if he hits you with it, it still stings like hell and you're still out and he is (for that shot anyway) the winner. Is it somehow easy-mode if it's not a conversion kit? Or is it just cheaper-mode? In which case that's not really a point anyone should be arguing about, everyone has different budgets and priorities when it comes to spending our money and we should all be able to find a playstyle and armoury that suits our circumstances (self-imposed or otherwise).

And to me that also includes whether you want to go full mil-sim with realistic 'look, feel, and downtime' or run around like a loony with a grab-and-go weapon firing pellets at people and looking like a tool!

More importantly: I love how Taff's gun is posed on a flowery sofa. It's like middle-aged softcore gun porn.

and a Wilcox G21M Night Vision mount arm for my NVG setup which is coming in Feb, either going with a PVS 14 on a Wilcox J arm or an ANVIS 6 set.

Fair play with the Wilcox arm on a wilcox shroud there is more or less 0 wobble in the arrangement, very happy with it.

A fine choice of sidearm!

i must admit after being a 1911 fanboy for all these years i am very impressed by how comfortable this is to hold and shoot. the only gripe i have is that there is no lanyard loop on it nor is there any kit for one as far as i know, but luckily i still have my Serpa somewhere.

That is what I have. Lower's everything by 17db I believe it says. So far they have been fantastic though. Super comfortable and they make everything sound nice and clear with the reduced volume unlike standard £20 protection. Arent those things about £600?!!!

From Trojan the chassis is 700 quid and the plate bags are 200, you need the plate bag set and the chassis to make the carrier,

I picked mine up brand new from a friend, plate bags and Chassis for £650,

might not be for everyone, but has literally been my dream plate carrier since it came out, and It was worth it to me, since they have an 8 month waiting list on them,

even direct from Crye.

Czech issue shirt.

I went to Prague last summer, and in three surplus stores, not a single shirt was stocked, just jackets and trousers.
Go to a market in Welshpool, and find this amongst an assortment of different camo's.

was well happy ;P

First up - My VFC SCAR L. The electrics are now working, thanks to the DV boys! Just waiting on the hinge plate and its fully functional! Magpul rail covers are now on it, as well as a bipod downgrip.

Second - But most important... My Springfield XD Serpa holster! I have been waiting for this bad boy, and the postman kindly give me it today. No More horrible drop leg!

Like every other serpa I have owned, It's "Rad".

Really good retention, Perfect fit, and solid. Couldnt be happier. Just need to grab the rotating quick release bits now so i can move it from belt to molle fast.

My next acquisition will be posted up here early may...

Genuine Norotos Rhino arm scored for 25 quid to harvest the backing plate so ANVIS mount finally complete!
Just need an ITT ANVIS LPBP (dem acronyms) to finish, as well as a set of ANVIS 9's ;)

Yeah, I would have preferred a magwell, but im not sure if the FAB ones will fit the SCAR. Will need to play a few games with it before I decide which to take off!

Ok. Time to show MORE purchases. Since my surgery, I have had a lot of time to make lots of impulse buys online!

First up:

Crye Precision Helmet cover and TMC helmet:

(http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/simmo0916/Airsoft/photo1_zps2639fa02.jpg) (http://s170.photobucket.com/user/simmo0916/media/Airsoft/photo1_zps2639fa02.jpg.html)

The helmet cover cost nearly double the price of the helmet :D

Warrior DCS Plate Carrier and the obvious UKAPU membership :D

(http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/simmo0916/Airsoft/photo4_zpsacf72f32.jpg) (http://s170.photobucket.com/user/simmo0916/media/Airsoft/photo4_zpsacf72f32.jpg.html)
(http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u274/simmo0916/Airsoft/photo3_zps0e3f4cea.jpg) (http://s170.photobucket.com/user/simmo0916/media/Airsoft/photo3_zps0e3f4cea.jpg.html)

Take particular note of the REAL STEEL light stick. That shit is red hot.

I also ordered some FAST pistol mag holders, and a mount for the helmet. BOOM. Im skint.

The mags aren't branded, just grabbed them from Airsoft world M4 50rd Mag (http://www.airsoftworld.net/gun-accessories/magazines-for-ammunition/m4-m16-50rd-mid-cap-metal-magazine.html), they "hold 50 rounds" in reality its about 41-47 which is slightly irritating because across 10 mags (without knowing exactly how many bbs you've loaded into each mag) you end up with almost 1 mags worth empty.

My Osprey MK4 also came yesterday, pretty sure I ordered the wrong size as it seems a size too big but I can't be arsed to send it back so it will do, plus my fingers are sore from having to mollé everything on haha :P

The 3ltr camelbak I've ordered for it is still in the post - seems as though the eBayer doesn't know how long 24h actually is when they listed shipping as "Other 24h Courier" (considering everything was ordered the same day from different shops)

Long time no news toys but here it goes. Seeing as I have away from shooting players with AEGs and more to shooting them with cameras I have decided to go a little bit retro.

It's a nikon F5 SLR, taking a step away from the digital goodness for a while and hoping that the limitations of this technology will help me become halfway competent at photography.

I bitterly regret selling my SLR some years ago, I took some great photos with it. Have fun with your new toy.

Acquired a new job with Game and had my first shift on Saturday. What made this day memorable was the fact that a bird (feathered) proceeded to shit on me without my knowledge or consent, and my manager discovering it. Now my nickname will probably be Seagull or Shitoon by next Saturday. The hazing has already commenced. Bird shit pics to follow.

My new WE 1911 MEU SOCOM came today and the first thing I did after taking it out the box obviously was to try and gas the mags

To my disappointment, the nozzle of the Abbey Predator Ultra Gas can is too short and does not reach the mags valve to expel gas into the magazine I have to wait another day or two for an adapter to come :(

I usually don't rave about kit but really for skirmishing how could you need anything else?!  I never got on with thigh platforms as they tended to slip on my leg, but this just stays in place being up high on my thigh!!!

A few purchases as I thought why the hell not. Old games.

Castlevania : Lords of Shadow
LA Noire
Tom Clancys Endwar
Metro : Last Light
Alien : Colonial Marines (it was £3 new...)

Two odd purchases in the same week.
Deus Ex Human Revolution Augmented Edition
Deus Ex Human Revolution Directors Cut
I now own 3 copies of this game.

Staff discount is amazing.

Also, on a less physical based procurement, my Xmas temp job at Game has now turned into proper job, so now I'll get to talk about the whole PS4 v Xbone debate and get paid for it for a lot longer.

All I need now is a WE L85A2 and I'll be happy with my kit for a little while haha.

its a shame they don't come in FDE or any other color that would look nice with a black slide and frame.

I'm sure they'll do them at some point in Fagpuls standard spectrum of colours. As it is, black is the colour I'd choose anyway to put on Krieger.

i have no issue with black but when it comes to me putting the metal slide and frame on i have either silver or black now i want it FDE so i may have to find someone who can duracoat it or find a good FDE paint

Took a punt and bought a pair of Bolle X1000 to replace my Revison Bullet Ants.... Which whilst fantastic have a tendency to fog up.

Maybe it's the lack of sand that they were once accustom to or maybe my now unsporting physique.

Fingers crossed.

Finally got round to assembling it. Only issue is i've semi broken my motor. While changing the Pinion, the shaft bent a little. And I cannot for the life of get it totally straight, So it's again a wait until payday. It will be worth it though.

Resurrection of a dead thread!

Aquired a new contract in work.
Aquired several free games over the last few months for the Xbox One (Assassins Creed Black Flag & Unity, The Evil Within, Lords of the Fallen, The Wolf Among Us (for the second time) and about to get Cod Advanced Warfare again).
Some laptop.
Then finally traded in my less-than-trusty iPhone 5 16gb for a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Love it, and I need to make an appearance to DV with it to take some photos with it.

Welcome back. I thought you'd been kidnapped or something. There was no way I was paying your ransom until they started cutting off your fingers.

Guess I'm not planning to. I rarely even use a sling on my rifle nowadays. Seems I'm getting less tactical with age
