Unforntunately, short of sending it away to have it done for the price of a large black market kidney, drilling it yourself is the only option. Drilling holes in it will effect the integrity whoever does it mind you as the forces applied to punch through at the drilled area will be less than anywhere else, obviously if you start riping kevlar layers from the inside this will massively effect it.

Might aswell take a shot at it yourself, if you feel confident enough to of course, like Druid said Wood drill bit (sharper the better) and a relatively slow speed, I'll take a good bit of time to get through but It'll get there.

No experience with a L1A1 personally but can vouch for the build quality of ARES guns, had a SCAR H as my primary work horse for over a year now and it's flawless, havent even had to open her up once (well apart from fitting internal deans connectors, but that doesn't count  :P)

Shame i missed the busses actually falling from the sky, was a incredible sight to see, 100 buses spawning mid air and exploding hitting the ground.

Elecktro burned on that day, and it was good...

The risk of permadeath makes this game so much more entertaining, choosing whether to go loot that town you heard gunshots from, just to grab a tin of food that you desperately need or more on and risk starvation.

The game is all about the choices you make and it's about time someone thought of it properly as a game mechanic, shame its taken a couple of blokes to do this in thier spare time for game manufacturers to realise that it actually works, roll on ARMA 3 witha Standalone DayZ 2 ;)

Mine was one of the first versions made, the internals were about as useful as a used condom, they really upped their game on the later versions, they're pretty top notch nowadays.
