In case anyone has missed it on the website or Facebook, we're off to Sennybridge FIBUA village this coming Saturday. Bookings are open now, and it should be a great day.

We're off to Sennybridge for the day on Saturday 11th July and we're taking you with us. For the first time in well over a decade we are running an event away from Caerwent. Price for this event is £45, or just £35 if you are prepared to stay back at the end of the day to help us sweep all the airsoft detritus out of the village.Bookings are open now!]Not sure what all the fuss is about? Check out shot at a Shoreline MilSim event at Sennybridge by our good friend FlyPix.

Looks like tonight's big road accident on Casualty was filmed on Caerwent. Blew up a fuel tanker truck.

General Discussion / Weird UKARA alternatives springing up
« on: February 15, 2014, 12:20:45 pm »
What is with all these peculiar "organisations" that have appeared very recently claiming to offer an alternative to UKARA? Why is an alternative needed? There is no requirement to register with UKARA in the first place! The defence under the VCRA is based on membership of a properly insured playing site, not of some vaguely defined scheme run out of someone's bedroom. If people don't want to register the fact that they are members of a site on the UKARA database that's their choice, I know several of our members have chosen not to register with UKARA.  The important point is that they can still buy RIFs as they are entitled to the defence BECAUSE THEY ARE SITE MEMBERS and not because of where that fact is recorded.

Too many conspiracy theorists yet again finding a "solution" to a problem that DOESN'T EXIST!

Dragon Valley / The Wicked Witch of the West?
« on: January 25, 2014, 08:51:38 pm »
I don't think any of us are likely to melt on contact with water, but just in case:

It's going to be wet tomorrow, particularly first thing. The forecast on BBC1 a while back suggested that it should stop pissing down about 10:30 - 11am and then we'll only see the odd shower for the rest of the day, so that should be alright. The Safe Zone is indoors, the chrono is indoors, we'll do the safety brief indoors and by that time is should have about stopped raining in time for game on. Don't wimp out and stay in bed, you'll only regret it when the sun comes out at lunchtime.

Dragon Valley / Changes to membership renewal process
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:24:48 am »
Hi all,

As some of you will already be aware, a £10 fee has been introduced for renewal of Dragon Valley membership. The initial signing up fee has increased to £15 (£5 for the card as it's impossible to find anyone who will do small volumes for sensible money, and £10 for the first year of membership). I've run the membership scheme with a one-off fee since it was introduced in October 2007 when the VCRA came in, and in that time it has grown from a handful of members to currently approaching 500, not all active of course. Obviously, as the membership has grown so has the associated admin and it is now at a level that is no longer tenable on a pro bono basis.

The members area on the DV website has been updated to support the new process for annual renewal of membership and the associated UKARA registration. The process is as follows:
  • When you receive your notice of impending expiry email from UKARA you will need to log in to the DV Members area on the website - - with your membership number (DVA*****) and password (there is a password reminder link on there if you don't know your password)
  • If your membership and UKARA registration are due to expire within 28 days, which they will be when UKARA have contacted you, then a section will display near the top of the page advising how many days you have until expiry with a "Pay Now" button that takes you to Paypal to pay securely online. You don't need a Paypal account, you can make a one-off payment through Paypal with any debit or credit card. Your membership number is automatically added to the Paypal transaction so I can see who the payment has come from.
  • Once payment is complete you will arrive back at the DV site.
  • Here's the important bit: I won't renew your UKARA registration immediately if it still has the best part of a month to run. I'll wait until the date it is due to expire and do it then, so that you aren't losing a month out of each year, so if you have paid and still get an email on your expiry date stating that your UKARA registration has expired, don't panic, I'm on it - I'll be using the expiry emails as a reminder and that way you will get the full 12 months every time.
  • You can of course pay me in cash at DV if you prefer.
Obviously, renewal is still dependent on having attended at least three of our events in the last 12 months, so if you know you haven't played please don't try to renew as then I'll have to mess about with refunds and what have you. If you aren't sure that you have played enough to renew then drop me an email or PM and I can check.

Anyone going this year? I'll be there from Friday with Toby and my brother (who those of you who've been around DV for long enough will remember). Would be good to meet up with some DV folks in a non-airsoft setting with beers.

Dragon Valley / Dragon Valley wants You! (Maybe...)

If you would be interested in marshaling at Dragon Valley please contact us via email using this link.

As any of our marshals will tell you, it's almost as much fun as playing and we only need you for one game in three, so every sixth Sunday. Also there are "perks"...

So if you fancy getting on board and you're not a knob, drop us an email :)

Dragon Valley / Trial of higher FPS limits for snipers
« on: March 20, 2013, 04:00:29 pm »
We'll be trialling a higher FPS limit for snipers at DV, starting with the event on 31st March.

We've held on to our blanket 350 limit for all guns for a number of years, always with the argument that the engagement distances at DV don't encourage the safe use of higher powered guns, but since we have so much space in the newer areas, and even more that we haven't let you loose on yet, it seems that our reasoning is no longer valid. So:

  • Snipers will be allowed up to 500fps. As with all guns this will be measured at chrono using our own 0.2g BBs. Once chrono has been passed any weight of 6mm BB can be used. Random chrono'ing during the day will take place to discourage any sneaky spring substitution.
  • The higher FPS limit will only apply to bolt-action rifles, not AEGs with full-auto disabled, and not semi-auto only AEGs such as the PSG-1. Semi-automatic rifles are not legal at 500fps.
  • A minimum engagement distance of 10m will apply to all weapons above 350fps. A pair of posts will be set 10m apart near the Safe Zone to ensure that everyone is aware of what 10m looks like.
  • Snipers must carry a secondary weapon or sidearm firing below 350fps.
  • No weapons above 350fps may be taken inside buildings due to the risk of "reflex" engagements at close ranges.
Rules page on the website to be updated shortly.

Dragon Valley / 20th January event cancelled
« on: January 18, 2013, 03:24:00 pm »
Well, with a certain amount of inevitability, Sunday's game is off as the MoD have closed the base. Not just us affected, all troops have been pulled off as well. Email going out shortly to all who booked in case they don't come on here.

Dragon Valley / October 21st event cancelled
« on: October 17, 2012, 01:49:02 pm »
Hi all,

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control the event on 21st October is cancelled, along with two further events between now and the end of the year, dates to be confirmed. That leaves just two events this year.

Sorry :(
