Games and Gaming / What is everyone playing?
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:04:39 pm »
As simple as that.
Post the game that you are getting your teeth into and a quick few words about why you are playing it and your thoughts on it.

I'm currently installing Deadpool onto my X360, partly because I can borrow games from work, and partly because loads of my friends have raved about it. I'll give almost anything Marvel comics a try, and Nolan North as DP himself shall be really interesting.

Games and Gaming / Max Payne 3
« on: April 16, 2012, 07:45:58 pm »
So, is anyone going to buy this? I've been waiting for this game for ages. Will probably get round to preordering it on steam or something. Some of the tech videos on YouTube look fantastic.

Games and Gaming / Gaming for persons hard of hearing
« on: November 07, 2011, 02:09:59 am »
I just read this article on gaming for deaf gamers and it's quite worrying how a lot of gamer developers shun the deaf because 'it ruins the cinematic experience'

Article here.

It really should be an industry standard.

Anyone getting this on release? South Wales Airsoft will be hosting a game night upon it's day of release on Tuesday, around 7-7:30pm with various game types being played (numbers dependent). All are welcome. Bring a couple of mates and we shall have a laugh.

The Gearbox / General MP5 questions.
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:30:59 am »
Just some quick questions -

1. Are there any reliable MP5 standard caps out there? I have an ICS MP5.

2. How easy is it to change the spring in said gun? Bear in mind that i have never really taken a gun apart, and I'd rather run a gun on a lower FPS purely so I can meet FPS limits when I go to other sites. I'll be aiming for around the 320fps mark ideally.

General Discussion / Ground Zero Weekender 2011
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:27:07 pm »
I saw a few DV regs down there this weekend and I wanted to know your opinions on it.

Personally I will not be going again. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic site. Atmosphere in the camp was really good and friendly. But the actual Airsoft side to it was, in my opinion, fruitopian diabolical. I've never seen such a blatant, obvious and downright dishonest load of players in my life. On the second day I hosed 3 guys walking up a hill with a midcap, and they carried on walking up on full auto like the terminator, flinching with every shot. Also, no lit pyro was allowed. So the only pyro allowed was BFGs. Not all of us have the luxury of carrying one. There were too many players on the field too which means going anywhere was (at times) impossible. Add in no ammo limits and you just can't walk 30 meters (not exaggerating) without a machine gun holding the road you have to walk past. The marshal count was appalling too. I don't think I saw more than 20-30 marshals between 1600 players that were supposed to of been booked in. And if you saw them in the field they were always in a 4x4 or on a quad so they never regulated the flow. I understand that it will be hard to monitor that amount of players but this gave players the mentality to do what they want because no one could stop them from being idiots.

We soon learned that having full gear on was the worst thing ever with all the foliage too, so we had to sort all our gear out in camp, lightening our loads and taking bare essentials. The on site shop had very varying prices, like a TM sopmod being the same price as a TM SCAR, but the magazines for those guns were £20 each. And hydration pouches in multicam were £90. Suppose the car boot was a good thing though, and I secured myself a nice little ICS MP5 with a load of mids whilst I was there.

All in all, the social side was really good with everyone partying and socialising through to the early hours. And if you do want to go next year my advice would be to do what everyone else does and take your ammo plus stock up on highcaps and be prepared for arseholes who cheat. I however refuse to go to any weekender they ever do.

The Gearbox / XM8 stock advice
« on: May 22, 2011, 01:25:10 am »
Just bought myself an XM8 during the week. I like the gun (regardless of it's marmite qualities), however it's stock wobble when fully extended is quite bad. It's an SRC XM8 GEN3 if that's any help. I know it's a running fault with most of these fish guns.

Now, I could trawl google for 90 hours, but I value the opinions of DV goers first. And before anyone says, no I won't use it with the stock collapsed because I prefer the stock extended because it's way more comfortable for me that way.

Any help would be appreciated

Games and Gaming / A step into a different realm...
« on: April 23, 2011, 10:54:03 am »
So, today I've decided to take the plunge into buying a PS3 (I'm on the waybas we speak). Now I'm an avid xbox gamer, and I plan on going online withe the PS3. I don't want to open this into the great PS3 v Xbox debate but, what will I be expecting from the Playstation?

I plan on getting a few games. Maybe GT5 or SOCOM or mortal kombat

The Gearbox / KWA MP7a1
« on: April 09, 2011, 10:13:02 am »
I'm thinking this is going to be my next buy come payday. Seen one for sale at a nice price and it's going to be mine (hopefully). Read a few reviews and by all accounts it's meant to be a good gun. Anyone here have one? If so, what do you think of it? Also I heardthe mags are hard to find

Games and Gaming / Duke Nukem Forever
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:59:13 am »
After Backlash showed me a video of this game while back I just can't wait for it, and it's not far away now either. I played DN3D to death and still play it to this day. You'll usually find me stalking the XBLA version online for some unsuspecting victims, booting them in the face. Anyone else waiting for this?

Games and Gaming / Resident Evil games on PS3
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:47:09 am »
Hey guys, burning question for you PS3 lads

Really, my question is can you buy RE1, 2 and 3 for the PS3? If you can, then I will be buying a PS3 soon as.

Games and Gaming / Dead Space 2
« on: February 05, 2011, 06:56:57 am »
So, it's been out for a week now. What's everybodies thoughts on this game?

I loved the singleplayer and it's neat little story twists as Issac slips in and out of his dementia. Playing it on zealot difficulty but to be fair I don't notice anything except scarce ammo and more damage done to you. Multiplayer is really good too, think left 4 dead and you'll almost be right. A bit sad that if you buy the game preowned and somebody has used the provided code, you'll have to pay to play it online

The Gearbox / New pistol maintenance
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:58:34 am »
I just bought a new pistol as of yesterday and I was just wondering what would the best advice be for the maintenance of it. It's a KJW M9 GBB, and its straight out of the box.

I realise that it's full metal and at this time of the year, not exactly fantastic for its performance in the cold, but the more I was using it yesterday the better performance I got out of it. Being a pistol newb though, I don't know if that's normal or not. I know I'm going to have to wipe off all the gunk on the inside of the gun anyway because it decided to creep out of every gap in the upper receiver (like the catch that assists in taking the slide off).

Another thing is, what gas is the best to use in the mags? The guy at the shop I bought it at suggested that I use Abbey predator mini ultra gas, and swapping to that gas made a difference, but I just want some opinions on what the best gas is for this particular gun.

The Gearbox / MOLLE platforms for "larger" guys
« on: December 31, 2010, 01:13:51 am »
Any of you guys got any ideas on any MOLLE platforms for large fellas? I don't mind paying reasonable money, not interested in top end stuff however. Needs to fit my fat arse.
