Dragon Valley / DV on TV
« on: July 08, 2012, 01:43:24 am »
Anyone see tonight's episode of Casualty on BBC1?  The opening scene was filmed at the SF compound on Caerwent, just North-East of the DV area.

Subsequent scenes filmed at the main gate (the one we used to use) and just outside the perimeter fence.

General Discussion / Modelling advice

No, not swimsuits.   :laughsoutloud:   :giggedy:

Hopefully Couger will be able to help me with this one, but I'll open it up to the floor anyway.

Basically I've been trying to use Tamiya Acrylics paints on a model F8-E Crusader that I've built but the problem is the paint is way too thin.  Even after a good 5 minutes worth of stirring it's still very watery.  I've always used enamel paints but decided to try these out for a change.  Never had a problem with acrylic based paints before, I've always used Citadel's ones without any issue.

Any ideas?

General Discussion / Dragon Valley 1 Revisited
« on: March 16, 2011, 11:29:33 am »
Was flicking channels late last night and came across this short film on BBC2.  This was filmed at the former Boys Village site at West Aberthaw, where Dragon Valley was based before moving to Caerwent in 2003.

General Discussion / The Silent Caerwent

Just thought you might like to see a small collection of photos I've taken around DV before, after and in between games.  The site takes on a different perspective without the rattling of AEGs in the background.

How does a MS90 spring compare to a 1J?  Less?  More?

Games and Gaming / The band game.
« on: July 21, 2010, 02:36:10 pm »
This can be quite a fun one.

Firstly, click a random Wikipedia article.  This result will be the name of your band, no matter what it is.

Next, go to here, and scroll down to the last quote on the page.  The last four or five words of this quote is your album name.

Lastly, go to here.  The last image on the page will be your album cover.

Go into Photoshop, MS Paint, GIMP or whatever you use, and knock yourself up an album cover and post it below.

General Discussion / RIAT photos
« on: July 19, 2010, 09:11:15 am »
For all my fellow aviation buffs, here's a sneak preview of some of the pictures I took at RIAT on Saturday, including a few of the F22 Raptor, the Airbus A400M and the Vulcan.

I took over a thousand pics, so there will be more to come.
